Nurmijärvi Dance Institute

Nurmijärvi Dance Institute, founded in 1985, is a modern and high-class dance school that offers classes to all ages. We provide tuition in dance according to the national curriculum for Basic Education in the Arts, approved by the Ministry of Education and Culture.. This guarantees you training at the highest level!

We offer a wide range of classes for children from the age of 3 all the way to adulthood. We have studios in Klaukkala, Nurmijärvi and Rajamäki with over 1100 students. The students are encouraged to achieve their dance potential under the guidance of our fully qualified dance teachers – whether they enjoy dancing just for fun or have more ambitious goals in dance. The language of tuition is mainly Finnish (apart from Ricky Carranza's classes - he teaches in English).

With a relaxed atmosphere and professional staff, we guarantee the best experience in dancing!

What's new?

Dated 29 Jan 2021: As per the regulations related to Covid-19 and the information received from the Nurmijärvi municipality we can now partially begin the classes in our dance studios starting on the 1st Feb (only students who are under 20 years of age - for those who are 20 and over the distant teaching via Zoom carries on). The maximum number of participants in a studio is 10 + the instructor. For those groups that are over 10 in size, the teacher will share information on how the group is divided.

The possibility to participate via Zoom will remain in all of our classes and distant participation is still strongly recommended due to the still serious situation with the covid. The links for online participation remain the same and can be found here. How to know which link to use? Check from the timetable in which studio your class normally is held and use the link for that studio. For example, if my class is in Kirkonkylä 1 studio, I use Kirkonkylä 1 link.

Please pay extra attention on hygiene and safety aspect if and when participating in the studios:

  1. Always wash & sanitize your hands when entering and leaving the class.
  2. All students (and parents) over 12y must wear a mask in all of the inside premises of the Dance School and Monikko. The mask is not obligatory during the dance class, but very much recommended.
  3. The dressing rooms are not to be used - change into your dance clothes already at home. The toilets are available.
  4. Parents of children under 7y can be accompanied to the class but parents can not wait in the corridors or hallways.
  5. Always pay attention to the safety distance (2 meters).
  6. Do not come to the class if you experience even the mildest symptoms of illness!
